Il Festival internazionale di poesia Palabra en el mundo di Venezia è ormai un appuntamento annuale che chiama poeti da tutto il mondo a unirsi intorno alla parola poetica per sollevare coscienze e rendere costruttiva la solidarietà e la pace. Palabra en el mundo, legata al Festival Internazionale di Poesia organizzato all’Avana, nasce per iniziativa del Proyecto Cultural Sur internacional, della Rivista Isla Negra e del Festival Internacional de poesia de la Habana e si svolge in contemporanea, nel mese di maggio, in più di 900 località nel mondo. A Venezia è ogni anno messo in azione dalla generosa partecipazione di poeti e poetesse nonché amiche e amici della poesia che credono nella responsabilità della parola. Il festival veneziano con il tempo è diventato uno spazio di solidarietà più ampio e aperto e la poesia che si ascolta sta qui a parlare di noi tutti, a parlare come un tempo facevano i folli ai più folli regnanti che la pace è parola da scambiare come segno reale di pace e non con missili e bombe, disoccupazione e disuguaglianze civili e sociali.
Le voci di questa edizione appartengono ad esperienze generazionali e geografiche differenti di donne e uomini, e intendono ricordarci che non siamo da soli a camminare su questa terra desolata e che la visione di uno è la visione di tanti, e il dolore e l’ingiustizia di uno è il dolore e l’ingiustizia sofferta da tanti. La poesia si incontra in questo territorio di acqua e terra, ricco di storia di conquiste con una convinzione forte che solo la Pace allontana la Guerra mentre solo la Guerra allontana la Pace del nostro sempre più fragile pianeta. La responsabilità è una parola di pace, la palabra interrompe il muro del silenzio raccogliendo l’appello del poeta albanese Ismail Kadarè, che così ci esorta: Venite e appendete le armi ai chiodi delle rime.

The Venitian International Poetry Festival Palabra en el Mundo is now an annual event that calls poets from around the world to unite around the poetic word to raise awareness and make constructive solidarity and peace. Palabra en el mundo, linked to the International Poetry Festival held in Havana, was launched by the Proyecto Sur Cultural Internacional, the Journal Isla Negra and the International Festival of Poetry of Havana and takes place simultaneously in the month of May, in more than 900 locations worldwide. In Venice, every year it is put into action by the generous participation of poets as well as poetry friends who believe in the responsibility of the word. The Venetian festival with time has become a more open and broad space of solidarity and poetry that wants to talk about all of us. It speaks, as once used to do the fool to the most insane rulers that Peace is the word to be exchanged as a real sign of peace and not with missiles and bombs, not with unemployment and civil and social inequalities.
The voices of this edition belong to generational and geographical experiences of different women and men. They are intended to remind us that we are not alone walking on this desolate land, and that the vision of one is the vision of many, and the pain and injustice suffered by one is the pain and injustice experienced by so many. Poetry is encountered here in this area of land and water, rich history of conquests, with a firm conviction that only Peace moves the war away while only the war moves Peace away of our increasingly fragile planet. Accountability is a word of peace, palabra breaks the wall of silence responding to the request of the Albanian poet Ismail Kadarè, who urges us: Come and hang your weapons on the nails of the rhymes.
