Palabra en el Mundo | Venezia | XIV Edizione | 29 maggio 2020
Il Festival internazionale di poesia Palabra en el Mundo di Venezia è ormai un appuntamento annuale che chiama poeti da tutto il mondo a unirsi intorno alla parola poetica, con lo scopo di sollevare coscienze e rendere costruttivi e tangibili i principi di solidarietà e pace. Palabra en el Mundo, legata al Festival Internazionale di Poesia organizzato all’Avana, si svolge in contemporanea, nel mese di maggio, in più di 900 località nel mondo. Il festival veneziano è diventato nel tempo uno spazio di solidarietà più ampio e aperto e la poesia che in esso si ascolta è qui a parlare di noi tutti, a raccontare – come un tempo facevano i folli con gli ancor più folli regnanti – che la pace è parola da scambiare come segno reale di pace e non con missili e bombe, disoccupazione e disuguaglianze civili e sociali.
Quest’anno, con il manifestarsi del Covid-19, ci siamo trovati di fronte a una situazione particolare, che ci ha costretti a modificare il nostro abituale modo di relazionarci non solo con gli ospiti che avevano già aderito alla manifestazione, ma anche con i nostri amici e amiche della poesia che ci sostengono da molto tempo.
Scartando l’idea di realizzare il Festival attraverso video in streaming o piattaforme on line in voga, abbiamo deciso di crearne una versione alternativa e virtuale (sotto forma di testi poetici e registrazioni), lasciando alle voci dei partecipanti il compito di ricordarci, ancora una volta, che non siamo da soli a camminare su questa terra.
Le voci che ascolterete in questa 14° edizione appartengono ad esperienze generazionali e geografiche differenti di donne e uomini che, ci auguriamo, insieme agli scatti veloci che ci hanno inviato, ci aiuteranno a riflettere su dove stiamo conducendo questo nostro fragile pianeta. Desideriamo rivolgere dunque il nostro sentito ringraziamento a tutti i partecipanti per la propria generosità.
Quest’anno il consueto omaggio a Mario Geymonat e alla lingua latina, ospitato all’interno del Festival, è stato curato da Anna Chahoud e Charlie Kerrigan del Trinity College di Dublino, che sono riusciti a dar vita al dialogo della IX Egloga delle Bucoliche di Virgilio, e ai quali va un sentito ringraziamento per il dono che hanno offerto a noi tutti.

The Venetian International Poetry Festival Palabra en el Mundo is now an annual event that calls poets from all around the world to unite around the poetic word, with the aim of raising awareness and making the principles of solidarity and Peace constructive and concrete. Palabra en el Mundo, linked to the International Poetry Festival held in Havana, takes place simultaneously in May, in more than 900 locations worldwide. The Venetian festival edition with time has become a more open and broad space of solidarity and poetry that wants to talk about all of us. It speaks, as once used to do the fool to the most insane rulers, that Peace is the word to be exchanged as a real sign of Peace and not with missiles and bombs, not with unemployment and civil and social inequalities.
With the appearance of Covid-19, we faced a particular situation that forced us to change our habit of relating both with our guests and our friends of the poetry that sustains us for a long time.
By discarding the idea of making the Festival through videos or online platforms very much in vogue, we decided to create a alternative and virtual version of it. We have left to the voices of our guests (in the form of poetic texts and recordings) the task of remembering once again that we are not alone walking on this Earth.
The voices you will hear in this 14th edition belong to different generational and geographical experiences of women and men who, we hope, together with the quick shots they sent us, will help us to reflect on where we are leading our fragile planet. We therefore wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all the participants for their generosity.
As usual, we kept our homage to Mario Geymonat and the Latin language, which this year, has been curated by Anna Chahoud and Charlie Kerrigan, from Trinity College in Dublin.
They managed to give life to the dialogue of Eclogue 9 of Virgil’s Bucolics, and we thank them from the bottom of our heart for the gift they have offered us all.
